Shoreline Armoring Restoration Monitoring

Join us this summer in conducting local community science in our 2026 summer shoreline armoring restoration monitoring! Assist VNC in monitoring the effectiveness of shoreline restoration to improve nearshore habitat for juvenile salmon and forage fish. No experience is required – participants will be paired with a VNC staff member who trained in all research protocols. The surveys occur throughout the intertidal zone, so participants should feel comfortable moving on uneven ground as we will conduct research on varying terrains.

Please wear sturdy, waterproof footwear or shoes that you don’t mind getting wet and muddy. No sandals or flip flops! Participants should also bring lunch, water, and whatever else is needed to be comfortable on the beach for a few hours.
