North-end Kelp Forest Snorkel & Delineation

Join us at the North-end Kelp Forest Snorkel & Delineation and help with our ongoing community science research on our local kelp forests. This survey takes place June 28th from 12-4 pm. We will meet at the North-end ferry dock. Please park in the walk-on parking lot and we will meet at the top of the dock before walking about a quarter of a mile down the beach to our research site. 

Participants will assist VNC in monitoring fish use in natural kelp forests, and will be paired with a VNC staff member trained in all research protocols who will assist in collecting data. your lunch, water, and what you need to be comfortable on the beach for a few hours. 

Strong swimming skills are required for all snorkelers and snorkeling experience is preferred. We request snorkelers bring their own wetsuits, fins, mask, and snorkel – or include your height, weight, and shoe size and we will be able to provide proper equipment for the day. If participants are able, we request they also bring their own kayaks, paddle, PFD or let VNC know or let us know and we can provide you with the equipment for the day.
