Dalco Kelp Forest Snorkel

Join us for this summer’s Dalco Kelp Forest Snorkel! Help with our ongoing community science research on our local kelp forests. This snorkel survey takes place June 27th from 9am-12pm. We will meet at the Tahlequah Ferry Parking lot and will walk approximately half-a-mile to reach our research site.

Participants will assist VNC in monitoring fish use in natural kelp forests. Each one will be paired with a VNC staff member trained in all research protocols. Please bring your lunch, water, and what you need to be comfortable on the beach for a few hours. 

In order to snorkel, strong swimming skills are required and snorkeling experience is preferred. We request snorkelers bring their own wetsuits, fins, mask, and snorkel – or include your height, weight, and shoe size and we will be able to provide proper equipment for the day. There is also an opportunity for kayak support volunteers, and a shoreside role that can accommodate individuals who can move across uneven surfaces.
