Senior Center Whale Talk & Update

In April 2024, a gray whale washed ashore on the east side of Vashon. After receiving a recovery permit from NOAA, the Vashon Nature Center and a team of volunteers retrieved all the bones from the beach. Learn about the life and anatomy of gray whales, and hear how scientists, students, local artists, and community members are working together to rebuild the skeleton for an educational display that honors this marine giant who once swam along our shores.
