Vashon Island Naturalist Training Workshop – All sessions

Join Vashon Nature Center for this year’s Vashon Island Naturalist Training Workshops! These workshops will teach about the natural habitats of the lowland Pacific Sound. Participants will learn about the geology of the area and plant and animal identification over the three days of field-based training. The group will tour Vashon’s shorelines, streams, forests, and ponds.

On day one, participants visit KVI beach and study shoreline processes and geologic history.  A forest walk and pond study will make up day two. Finally, on day three we will be learning stream ecology and watershed health through collecting stream bugs, observing juvenile salmon, and learning cutting-edge monitoring methods used in island creeks.  

Locations: Varying – different each day. 

Cost: $65/day or $180 for all three days

Experience needed: None, children must be 10 and accompanied by an adult 

What to bring: weather appropriate attire, waterbottle, sack lunch
