Education
Education is central to Vashon Nature Center’s mission. We offer hands-on field science programs to K-12 schools, public workshops, youth programs, professional development for educators, naturalist training, and college internships.
Workshops and Trainings
Fin to Feather Puget Sound Naturalist Program:
Explore Vashon Island from the surrounding underwater kelp forests and nearshore ecosystems to the forest canopies, and strengthen your connection to the natural history of central Puget Sound. You will learn about geology, weather and climate patterns, plants, animals, habitats, and our role as responsible stewards of nature.
The course will blend in-person experiential field trips with readings and actions that can be completed on your own time. Course leaders will include Vashon Nature Center staff and expert naturalists and scientists from our community and the surrounding region.
Sign up for the entire seven-sessions or any individual class.
STEM Clock-hours available for registered teachers. The Vashon Nature Center is a Washington State approved clock-hour provider. Stipends may be available for Vashon Island School District teachers to offset the cost of registration.
Scholarships available on request.
