Film Screening: The Healing Heart of Lushootseed

“The Healing Heart of Lushootseed,” is a documentary that tells the extraordinary story of how a diminutive great-grandmother, the late Vi Hilbert, tenaciously gathered support from unlikely corners for her most ambitious project: to heal the heart of the world.

The screening will happen Tuesday, March 5 at 6pm at Vashon Theatre. Admission by donation. A discussion with the filmmaker, Jill La Pointe – granddaughter of the late Vi Hilbert – will follow the film screening. Ms. La Pointe is the Director of Lushootseed Research (LR), a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Lushootseed language and culture.

This film screening is co-sponsored by Vashon Island School District, Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum, Vashon Island Unitarian Universalists, Vashon Land Trust, Vashon Nature Center, as well as by Backbone Campaign, and MeaningfulMoviesProject, with support from Vashon Theatre and Island GreenTech. All donations collected at the door will support the Lushootseed Research.
