Shoreline Restoration Monitoring – Beach Surveys
Join Vashon Nature Center staff for a day of beach monitoring! Help collect data to study the impact of bulkhead removal on shorelines, learn about shoreline processes, and contribute to the health of the Salish Sea. Our surveys include measuring beach slope and length, characterizing beach wrack (debris from the last high tide), and studying insects, vegetation, and logs along the shore.
No experience is required! Interested individuals must be capable of walking over uneven terrain for up to four hours. Read our blog post to learn more about the importance of this work. For more information contact taylor@vashonnaturecenter.org.
