Shoreline Restoration Monitoring – Beach Surveys
Join Vashon Nature Center staff and interns for a day of beach monitoring. No experience is required! Assist in data collection to monitor the effectiveness of shoreline restoration projects, learn about shoreline processes, and contribute to the health of the Salish Sea! We study the slope and length of the beach, the beach wrack (debris left by the last high tide), insects, vegetation, and logs on the beach. Interested individuals must be capable of walking over uneven terrain for up to four hours. Read our blog post to learn more about the importance of this work.
